The Picolit is interpreted by the La Roncaia winery with a refined and precious style. Starting from the color, reminiscent of gold, one prepares to experience the tasting with trepidation. The taste on the palate is sublime, as is the flow of aromas that enchant the nose. A bottle that comes from a very careful selection of the best grapes of Picolit, chosen with care to express the territoriality of a product that the winery is firmly focused on.
The passito wine Picolit La Roncaia is made from Picolit grapes grown in the vineyards located in the municipality of Attimis. We are on eocene origin soils, of a marl type, where the vines grow using the unilateral guyot system. The manual harvest takes place at the end of October and the grapes undergo a drying process of 6 weeks, before being destemmed. The resulting berries are gently pressed, and the must obtained ferments in new Allier barriques and in stainless steel tanks, at controlled temperature. In spring, the cuvée is assembled, and the wine is transferred to barrique, where it remains to age for a year. After bottling, the Picolit undergoes an additional period of 6 months in the bottle before being released for sale.
The Picolit La Roncaia presents itself on the palate with a golden yellow color, particularly intense, and crossed by reflections that tend more towards amber, especially visible at the rim. The olfactory spectrum that spreads to the nose is broad and fascinating, built on a weave of notes where dried and candied fruit alternates with hints of aromatic herbs and honey. Delicate is the entry in the mouth, where the sip presents itself with good intensity, with a sweet, savory, and flavorful taste at the same time, with excellent final persistence. A label that comes from a rare grape variety, a true gem of Friulian enology interpreted by a winery that, year after year, confirms itself as one of the most consistent production realities of the Colli Orientali.
