PINOT GRIGIO BORGO SAN DANIELE 2023 DESCRIPTION

The Pinot Grigio ‘I Am Mauri’ Borgo San Daniele is characterized as a white wine with a full and soft body, produced within the municipality of Cormons, in the Collio Friulano. In this noble wine-growing territory, for over 20 years, the Borgo San Daniele winery has been creating faithful and typical interpretations, made from grape varieties that have been cultivated here for more than 150 years, such as Pinot Grigio. At the helm of the estate are the siblings Alessandra and Mauro Mauri, she responsible for the commercial and communicative aspects and he for the viticultural and enological ones. The vineyards, cared for in harmony with nature without the use of synthetic chemicals, are surrounded by spontaneous herbs, woods, and meadows.

Borgo San Daniele Pinot Grigio comes from the homonymous gray-skinned variety cultivated according to the principles of biodynamic agriculture in the locality of Bosc di Sot, in the municipality of Cormons. Once the right degree of ripeness is reached, the grapes are gently pressed, followed by a brief skin maceration at controlled temperature and then a soft pressing of the mass. The subsequent alcoholic fermentation takes place at controlled temperature and the wine rests on the lees until spring. The maturation period of a few months occurs for 80% of the mass in steel tanks and for the remaining part in large oak barrels, and the mass is finally bottled without undergoing any filtration process.

The Pinot Grigio from Borgo San Daniele has a straw yellow color tending towards golden. The nose unfolds with hints of white flowers and ripe fruit, predominantly pear, which over time evolve into aromas of dry hay and toasted almond. Full and balanced taste, soft and harmonious, with elegant mineral and fruity persistence.

When to drink
Wine good to drink now, but that can have a beautiful evolution after resting for a while in your cellar
Glass
Medium open goblet
Perfect for young and medium bodied white wines which don't require excessive oxygenation to open. The opening, slightly tighter than the body of the glass, favors the concentration of aromas towards the nose, enhancing the perception of aromas and limiting the dispersion
