PINOT GRIGIO 'PUNGGL' NALS MARGREID 2023 DESCRIPTION

The Pinot Grigio "Punggl" from the South Tyrolean winery Nals Margreid is a label that is part of the Selection line, which collects wines of excellent quality that express the best excellence of the most suitable plots of the estate. Accurate selections of extraordinary quality grapes, careful vinifications aimed at preserving the varietal richness and the character of each single terroir, give rise to unique wines that are among the best regional expressions. In the cool climate of Nalles, the Pinot Grigio offers a very balanced white that harmoniously combines fruity richness, softness, and clear freshness.

"Punggl" is a splendid expression of Pinot Grigio from Alto Adige. The Nals Margreid winery manages about 150 hectares of vineyards, which are run by 140 small partner growers, who carefully and passionately cultivate their vines. The Pinot Grigio vineyards are cultivated on a hill located in the Punggl area at an altitude between 200 and 250 meters above sea level. The climate is cool, very breezy, characterized by significant temperature fluctuations between day and night.thermal variations between day and night temperatures. The vines sink their roots into soils composed of sands and clays, particularly suited for the cultivation of white grape varieties. The harvest is done by hand at full ripeness, and the best clusters selected in the vineyard are gently pressed. The must is fermented in wooden barrels for about three weeks, and before bottling, the wine matures for 8 months on fine lees, in order to acquire greater structure.

Pinot Grigio “Punggl” by Nals Margreid is a harmonious white, with a pleasantly rich and fruity profile, that represents the character of the Alto Adige territory very well. It appears a rather intense yellow color with bright reflections. The bouquet is characterized by broad and rich aromas, with hints of white flowers, aromas of white-fleshed fruit, notes of peach, apricot, and hints of herbal notes. The entry on the palate is soft and creamy, with ripe, dense, and enveloping fruit, perfectly balanced by a lively mineral freshness.
