PINOT GRIGIO 'SANCT VALENTIN' SAN MICHELE APPIANO 2022 DESCRIPTION

The Pinot Grigio "Sanct Valentin" is a label that belongs to the most prestigious collection of San Michele Appiano. It is a great classic of the South Tyrolean winery, which has been producing it since the 1980s, using only grapes from the best vineyards of the estate. The long aging in wood contributes to enriching the bouquet with complex and deep aromas, soft and enveloping, which perfectly express the rich personality of this noble grape variety. It is a wine dedicated to those who prefer fruit maturity, expressive harmony, and aromatic intensity.

The "Sanct Valentin" Pinot Grigio from San Michele Appiano is born in a historic winery in Alto Adige, which for over a century has been producing wines linked to the best traditions of the area. The Pinot Grigio vineyards that provide the grapes for the Sanct Valentin selection are chosen from the most vocated parcels, located near Appiano, at an altitude ranging from 420 to 600 meters above sea level, with a southeast and southwest exposure.south-west. The soils are of ancient morainic origin, rich in limestone gravel, making them very draining and rich in mineral elements. The climate is cool, characterized by significant temperature variations, which favor slow and optimal ripening of the grapes. The harvest takes place around mid-September, with manual collection and selection of the best bunches in the vineyard. After gentle pressing, the must ferments in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature. The wine matures for about a year in barriques and tonneaux, also undergoing malolactic fermentation and completing aging with at least 6 months in concrete tanks before final bottling.

The Pinot Grigio "Sanct Valentin" by San Michele Appiano is a white wine of notable structure and concentration, which also has a good aging potential, with interesting tertiary evolutions. Its characteristics make it a versatile table companion, appreciated both with important seafood dishes, fish in sauce or baked, and with noble poultry or delicate white meats. It presents itself with an intense light yellow color.and bright. The olfactory profile is rich and broad, with aromas of white-fleshed fruit, golden apple, pear, hints of tropical fruit, nuances of vanilla and soft spices. Its density provides pleasantly satisfying and creamy tasting sensations, with a complex and persistent aromatic spectrum, well balanced by a harmonious and fresh finish.

When to drink
Wine good to drink now, but that can have a beautiful evolution after resting for a while in your cellar
Glass
Medium open goblet
Perfect for young and medium bodied white wines which don't require excessive oxygenation to open. The opening, slightly tighter than the body of the glass, favors the concentration of aromas towards the nose, enhancing the perception of aromas and limiting the dispersion
