PINOT NERO CASTELLO DELLA SALA ANTINORI 2022 DESCRIPTION

The Pinot Noir of Castello della Sala, Marchesi Antinori's Umbrian signature, is symbolic of the refinement and elegance that distinguish the winery. It is part of the red grape expression of that fascinating territory, not far from Orvieto, which has given over the years some excellent wines of depth and character. This Pinot Noir is also an expression of a style, that of Marchesi Antinori, which always places a stately accent in everything they bottle. That is why Castello della Sala's Pinot Noir knows how to combine finesse and class with intensity and backbone. This is a multifaceted and complex red, embellished by the elements coming directly from the terroir in which it is placed that gives it a particularly identifying nuance.

Castello della Sala Pinot Noir comes from 4 hectares of vineyards located at an altitude of more than 400 meters above sea level. The soils here are predominantly limestone, with the presence of sands of sedimentary origin and rich in fossils. Once harvested, the grapes are destemmed and softly crushed. The resulting must is placed in small steel tanks where it undergoes cold maceration in contact with the skins for about 3 days, followed by the first part of alcoholic fermentation. It is completed inside French barriques, where malolactic fermentation also occurs. Maturation, which lasts about 10 months, also takes place in the same. A final period of bottle ageing in the castle's historic cellars prepares the Pinot Noir for marketing.

Antinori Pinot Nero Castello della Sala presents a ruby red colour with good luminosity to the eye. Its bouquet opens on fruity tones of cherry, currant, raspberry and berries, complemented by a floral bouquet and an interesting spicy background. In the mouth reveals its elegance, which does not give up the juicy expression of the fruit. The tannin is silky and well-managed, balanced with the softness of the body and intertwined with a mineral savoriness that embellishes it with refined and territorial connotations.

When to open
To enjoy it at its best, we recommend you to let the wine 'breathe' at least 15-30 minutes before serving
When to drink
Wine good to drink now, but that can have a beautiful evolution after resting for a while in your cellar
Glass
Medium open goblet
Perfect for young and medium bodied red wines which don't require excessive oxygenation to open. The opening, slightly tighter than the body of the glass, favors the concentration of aromas towards the nose, enhancing the perception of aromas and limiting the dispersion
Longevity
You can easily leave it in your cellar for 4-5 years
