PINOT NERO 'LUDWIG BARTH VON BARTHENEAU VIGNA ROCCOLO' HOFSTATTER 2018 DESCRIPTION

The Pinot Nero “Ludwig Barth von Bartheneau Vigna Roccolo” is a high-altitude red wine from Alto Adige that comes from a historic vineyard among the most prestigious owned by Hofstatter. We are in Mazon, just above the municipality of Egna, in a cru where Pinot Nero manages to express all its great potential. Refined aromas are the prelude to an exceptional sip, in which freshness, tannins, and persistence outline a drink with unique traits. An absolutely must-try label.

This “Ludwig Barth von Bartheneau Vigna Roccolo” is a pure Pinot Nero, an international grape variety cultivated by Hofstatter in a plot located in the heart of Mazon – the Roccolo vineyard – a plateau particularly suited for its production. Among the rows the vines are also 70 years old and, after the harvest, the bunches are destemmed, carefully selecting only the ripest berries. A brief cold maceration follows, and the subsequent fermentation takes place in steel at controlled temperature, for a total of about 10days. The aging takes place in three different stages: first, the wine remains for 18 months in small oak barrels, then continues for a semester in large barrels and finally, after bottling, undergoes a final resting period directly in glass for 12 months.

The Pinot Nero “Ludwig Barth von Bartheneau Vigna Roccolo” reveals itself to the eye with a hue reminiscent of ruby, endowed with a beautiful intensity. A whirlwind of different sensations envelops the nose, starting from more fruity notes and then arriving at spicy sensations. Refined and subtle on the palate, it is characterized by good structure, from which emerges a fresh and enveloping taste. A red that is born within the fortunate cru of Mazon, a terroir particularly suited for the production of special Pinot Nero, endowed with an extra gear.
