PINOT NERO 'SCHWEIZER' FRANZ HAAS 2022 (STELVIN CAP) DESCRIPTION

The Pinot Nero "Schweizer" from the Franz Haas winery is an elegant, fresh, and fruity red produced in the municipalities of Egna, Montagna, and Aldino in the province of Bolzano, in Alto Adige. The "Schweizer" is made from pure Pinot Nero grapes coming from different clones, with very low yields, characterized by being planted in soils and microclimates that are very different from each other. The vineyards are located on hills with different exposures and at altitudes ranging from 350 to 700 meters, with soils that are partly clayey and partly sandy with percentages of limestone and gravel. The winery is a historic reality, managed for seven generations by the Haas family, which offers a range of labels that fully represent the main indigenous varieties of Südtirol.

The "Schweizer" Pinot Nero by Franz Haas is produced with carefully selected grapes that are hand-harvested around the first decade of October. The bunches are then brought to the winery for a gentle destemming-crushing followed by alcoholic fermentation that takes place in stainless steel containers at controlled temperature with frequent pump-overs and punch downs to extract the maximum from the skins. After malolactic fermentation, which also takes place in steel containers, the wine is racked and remains in aging for 12/15 months in French oak barriques before being bottled and continuing its maturation for about a year before being marketed.

The Pinot Nero "Schweizer" presents itself with a beautiful bright ruby red color, with intense aromas of ripe red fruit and berries, including cherry, blueberry, and raspberry, floral notes of rose and dried flowers, spicy hints of pepper, vanilla, and licorice, finishing with memories of leather. On the palate, it is full-bodied and structured with enveloping and silky tannins that make it very pleasant to drink. This label from the Franz Haas winery is a red of great finesse that fully reflects the varietal.
