The Prelit Magnum by Damijan Podversic is an intense and powerful red, a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon extremely welcoming but never complacent. Not only whites for Damijan Podversic, an authentic star of Collio, a student of the legendary Josko Gravner but capable of clearly distinguishing himself from the 'master' with a peculiar style that is equally rich in facets. The idea of agriculture is that shared by Josko but also by several local producers, namely not to use chemical or synthetic substances in the vineyard so as not to compromise the vitality of soil and plants, and to harvest strictly at full ripeness of the grapes. To date, the cultivated hectares are about 10, divided between indigenous and non-indigenous varieties, the latter having become an integral part of the local tradition and therefore able to give life to strongly territorial wines. The wines of Damijan are extraordinary as they are available and sunny even in youth, but capable of renewing themselves with adequate bottle aging.
The red Magnum Prelit is obtained from Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, coming from the Monte Calvario and Piedimonte vineyards, both characterized by Ponka, a typical matrix of the Collio area made of marls and sandstones. In the vineyard, the principles of organic farming are followed, although it is reductive to describe Damijan's approach to viticulture which involves targeted and necessary interventions, without the use of chemical or synthetic substances. In the cellar, spontaneous fermentation continues and in the case of Prelit, aging of 36 months in 20-30 hectoliter barrels, followed by at least 1 year in the bottle.
The Prelit Magnum wine pours into the glass with its intense ruby dress, edged with garnet reflections. Olfactory impact rich in nuances ranging from berries to cocoa, passing through vegetal bursts, spices, and much more. The richness of the nose is confirmed in a sip that captivates for its intensity and harmony, perfectly balanced between its components and very fascinating by virtue of its smooth texture. Introspective.
