Primitivo Rosato Doppio Passo is a refreshing and lively Bottiglia pugliese, ideal as an aperitif during hot summer sunsets. That between Apulia and rosé wines is a love affair that began long ago, probably dating back to the presence of Greek settlers in Salento. After years of fluctuating appreciation, today rosé wines are back in the limelight, thanks also to regions like Apulia that have strongly promoted their expression. In fact, the Apulia region alone produces about 40% of the total Italian rosé wines, a supremacy that has earned it the nickname 'the land of rosés'.
Doppio Passo Rosato Primitivo derives from the indigenous variety of the same name processed in purity, whose grapes benefit from the Mediterranean climate and the constant presence of sea breezes. The harvest is carried out slightly in advance of the optimal ripening of the berries in order to safeguard their acidity and thus the freshness of the finished wine. The vinification process takes place entirely in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with brief contact of the must with the skins aimed at extracting only a small amount of colour.
To the eye, the Rosato di Puglia Primitivo Doppio Passo displays a salmon-pink hue. On the nose, delicate hints of rose, wild berries, strawberry and pink grapefruit are perceived, supported by iodized mineral hints. Juicy and streamlined palate, very fresh and fragrant, with a savoury trail that lingers long. As is customary for the type, Doppio Passo's Rosato Primitivo is perfect to drink chilled in its youth, accompanied by a wide range of dishes such as seafood preparations, fried foods, cheeses and lightly matured cured meats.
