PRIMITIVO 'TORCICODA' TORMARESCA 2023 DESCRIPTION

The Primitivo “Torcicoda” by Antinori is an expression of richness and smooth allure, typical of Primitivo, made more complex and profound through the internationally inspired interpretation of the renowned Tuscan winery. The name Antinori needs no introduction, as it is part of the history of Italian winemaking. In addition to its now world-famous Tuscan wines, the estate has chosen to invest in the potential of deeply undervalued areas such as Castel del Monte and Salento. The result is a production focused on native grape varieties such as Aglianico, Nero di Troia, Fiano, Primitivo and Negroamaro, alongside international varieties that have been present in Puglia since the 1950s, including Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay.

The red “Torcicoda” is made from 100% Primitivo grapes harvested with slight overripeness to enhance concentration in the wine. After harvesting and crushing, the must undergoes maceration for about 15 days in stainless steel tanks, during which alcoholic fermentation takes place at controlled temperature. Following racking, the wine completes malolactic fermentation directly in French and Hungarian oak barriques, where it ages for approximately 10 months, followed by a further 8 months of bottle refinement.

“Torcicoda” immediately reveals its territorial identity, displaying an impenetrable, deeply concentrated ruby red color. The bouquet, a synthesis of sweetness and indulgence, unfolds with notes of plum and blackberry jam, layered with hints of chocolate and coffee, and enriched by spicy nuances of cinnamon. On the palate, it is pure velvet, filling the mouth with a sensual, caressing texture. Flavorful and inviting, it encourages sip after sip and fades into a rather long persistence. Comforting and enveloping.
