Puligny-Montrachet Olivier Leflaive 2022

The Puligny Montrachet by Olivier Leflaive is a pure Chardonnay produced in Burgundy. Elegant and immediate, this white wine is vinified and aged in oak barrels, developing aromas of toasted almond, wood, citrus, and flint, thanks also to the clay-limestone soils where it comes to life. On the palate, you can immediately sense the perfect balance between delicate floral notes and straightforward minerality that make this Puligny Montrachet a refined interpretation of the Côte de Beaune area. When paired with mushroom chicken, a sole fillet with butter, or a platter of fresh cheeses like goat cheese, it will bring out the best in itself!

PULIGNY-MONTRACHET OLIVIER LEFLAIVE 2022 DESCRIPTION

The Puligny-Montrachet from the renowned Domaine Olivier Leflaive represents a typically refined and complex interpretation of the prestigious territory of Puligny-Montrachet. The name Puligny comes from the term “pul”, a root word for swamp, referring to the small and numerous pockets of water located beneath the village, which prevent the construction of underground cellars. The production area of the denomination is located at the foot of the hill, between the neighboring villages of Chassagne-Montrachet to the south and Meursault to the north.

Olivier Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet is a pure Chardonnay coming from a blend of grapes from different plots of the Puligny-Montrachet denomination, cultivated according to a reasoned agronomic management. The average age of the vines is over 35 years and the soils on which the grapes grow are clay-limestone, characterized by a strong presence of stones, situated at an altitude between 230 and 250 meters above sea level. The harvest is done entirely by hand and is followed by whole cluster white winemaking, with soft pressing and subsequent static decantation of the must for 24 hours. The resulting alcoholic fermentation takes place in oak barrels, 20% new, the same containers where the complete malolactic fermentation and the maturation phase of 18 months occur.

In the glass, Olivier Leflaive's Puligny-Montrachet shows an intense straw yellow color with brilliant golden reflections. The aromatic spectrum opens with delicate floral hints reminiscent of hawthorn, followed by complex notes of citrus, summer fruit, and toasted almond. All complemented by mineral nuances of flint. The progression on the palate is light, immediate, and delicate, with a pleasant fresh-salty component that accompanies the elegant and persistent finish, characterized by a taut mineral imprint.
