REFOSCO DAL PEDUNCOLO ROSSO CASTELVECCHIO 2022 DESCRIPTION

The Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso Castelvecchio is a red wine from the Gorizia Carso, a territory always suited for quality viticulture. A label that showcases the typical warmth that Refosco usually brings to the tasting, where one can also appreciate the ethereal background that gradually becomes more prominent on the nose. A bottle in which character and personality abound, telling the story of an ancient and important native Friulian grape variety.

The Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso wine is produced by the Castelvecchio winery from those vineyards included in the Natural Park of the Carso. We find ourselves in a terroir rich in limestone rock and red soil, abundant in minerals; between the rows, the Bora wind blows, responsible for a climate strongly characterized by temperature fluctuations between day and night. The fermentation of the must occurs spontaneously in stainless steel tanks thanks to the presence of indigenous yeasts, followed by malolactic fermentation. The wine is then transferred into barriques and large French oak barrels for the aging phase, lasting a total of 24 months, and before being released for sale, there is an additional six months of maturation carried out directly in glass.

lasting a total of 24 months, and before being released for sale, there is an additional six months of maturation carried out directly in glass.

The Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso from Castelvecchio presents itself to the eye with a typically ruby color, characterized by a deep impenetrability. The small forest fruits, both red and black, open on the nose with intense notes, while in the finish, more ethereal, nuanced hints can also be perceived. Soft and warm the entry on the palate, endowed with a beautiful persistence, where a sip develops with a slightly bitter note. A label that at the table makes its presence felt with roasts and game, enhancing the Friulian cuisine in general.

Temperature
16°-18° C
When to open
To enjoy it at its best, we recommend you to let the wine 'breathe' at least 15-30 minutes before serving
When to drink
Wine good to drink now, but that can have a beautiful evolution after resting for a while in your cellar
Glass
Medium open goblet
Perfect for young and medium bodied red wines which don't require excessive oxygenation to open. The opening, slightly tighter than the body of the glass, favors the concentration of aromas towards the nose, enhancing the perception of aromas and limiting the dispersion
