The “Vinnae” Ribolla Gialla is the white wine that quintessentially expresses the tripartite territorial soul of the Jermann winery, at the historic crossroads between Friuli, Austria, and Slovenia. A label that originates from the blend of the three most representative grape varieties of this territory, where one border blurs into another, namely Ribolla Gialla, Riesling Renano, and Friulano. The history of the Jermann winery begins with a generational change at the crossroads of Mitteleuropa: in 1881, the founder Anton Jermann left the Austrian wine region of Burgerland and then the vineyards in Slovenia, to plant new roots in Friuli, more precisely in the heart of the Collio production area.
Today, as many as 130 hectares of vineyard provide the backdrop for a production that has brought the name of the Jermann winery to the top of white wine production in Italy. Among these, this label named “Vinnae,” born in 1983 from grapes coming from the marly and sandy soils of Collio, deserves particular attention, on soils with a characteristic rocky substrate traditionally defined as "Ponca".
The “Vinnae” of Jermann is the result of the skillful vinification of Ribolla Gialla grapes, combined with small percentages of Friulano and Riesling Renano, coming from the best owned vineyards that enjoy differentiated exposures ranging from Southeast to Northwest, located around the Villanova estate, in Farra d'Isonzo. Created to celebrate the hundred years of dedication to the vineyard of the Jermann family, “Vinnae” is a fresh and balanced wine, with a medium structure smoothed by the skillful aging of part of the grapes in oak barrels from Slavonia. Its pronounced savory note, supported by a notably dry finish, will surprise you for the extreme pleasantness of drinking!
