Carl Koch's Riesling Auslese 'Oppenheimer Sacktrager' is an excellent example of the great complexity of Rhine wines, among the longest-lived in the world. Produced from grapes harvested from a single vineyard, with fertile, loess-rich soil, this is a dry wine made from highly sugary grapes, rich in aromas and sweet sensations but with almost no residual sugar. The nose reveals dried fruit, yellow fruit jam and typical hints of evolution, with the hydrocarbon notes that make this grape variety famous. On the palate, it is long, salty and fragrant, with a subtle taste and sharp freshness
Light golden yellow
Complex, with notes of peach jam, chestnut honey and black tea, typical hints of oil
Soft and very mature, subtle and intensely fresh
