The Rossese di Dolceacqua Superiore “Luvaira” is an elegant and characterful wine that comes from the Luvaira vineyard of the Tenuta Anfosso, one of the most important and established wineries in the area. The excellence of the Rossese produced by Tenuta Anfosso is based on years of trials and experimentation and on the enhancement of each single vineyard.
Luvaira is one of the most important crus of the estate: it extends over 2.5 hectares in the municipality of San Biagio della Cima, with a south-facing sun exposure. It is a landscape characterized by cliffs and steep slopes, straddling between sea and mountain, made cultivable and manageable by dry stone walls built by man. The extraordinary age of the vines, the low yield per hectare, and the strict selection of grapes contribute, along with the characteristics of the terroir, to shape the personality of the Rossese di Dolceacqua Superiore “Luvaira”. The vinification in steel, with skin maceration for 8 days and prolonged aging makes it balanced and long-lived, capable of evolution.
The Rossese di Dolceacqua Superiore “Luvaira” Tenuta Anfosso presents itself in the glass with a textbook garnet color and reveals intriguing aromas that slowly take flight: berries, jams, dried flowers, with a spicy finish. On the palate it is measured and smooth, savory and characterful, built on a pleasant tannic texture and with a long Mediterranean echo. A pure Rossese indissolubly linked to the terroir that demonstrates how wood is not always necessary to create excellent reds.
