The Sangiovese 'IuLi'o' from the Tuscan winery Castello Tricerchi is a pure Sangiovese with a modern and fine character, which differs from the Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino produced by the winery due to its passage in exhausted barriques. The Castello Tricerchi property is located on the northern slope of the Montalcino area, where Emanuele and Tommaso Squarcia, direct descendants of the Tricerchi family, founders of the estate, manage 400 hectares of land, of which 13 hectares are dedicated to vineyards and entirely planted with Sangiovese Grosso. In particular, the property is divided into 7 parcels, including Vigna del Velo, Vigna del Castello and Vigna Nuova.
Castello Tricerchi 'IuLi'o' is a 100% Sangiovese Grosso red wine from vines grown on medium-textured soils composed of clay and sand, located at an altitude of 250 metres above sea level with western and southwestern exposure. Harvesting is carried out by hand at the beginning of October and is followed by traditional red vinification, with alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks accompanied by 15 days of maceration on the skins, during which periodic pumping over is carried out. The subsequent maturation phase lasts about 3 months and takes place in exhausted oak barrels. This is followed by a brief refinement in the bottle before final release.
Castello Tricerchi's 'IuLi'o' Sangiovese has a clear ruby red colour. The nose is played on fine and inviting sensations of cherry, violet and various spices. These notes are echoed on the palate, where warmth and roundness are well supported by the brilliant fresh-tasting verve, elements that come together in a harmonious and balanced progression characterised by intense returns of red fruits.
