“Viafrancia” Rosso Riserva by Baglio di Pianetto is a classic Bordeaux blend produced in the land of Sicily. A combination of two great grape varieties, it expresses the fruity softness of Merlot, combined with the structure and aromatic finesse of Cabernet Sauvignon. It is the flagship label of the winery, the one that best expresses its spirit and identity. The name itself recalls the transalpine inspiration, but it is also a testament to the company name Via Francia, a road that crosses the estate and seems to mark the winery's destiny. The Rosso Riserva “Viafrancia” by Baglio di Pianetto comes from vineyards located in Contrada Pianetto in Santa Cristina Gela, in the inland area of Palermo. This is a high hill area, situated 650 meters above sea level and characterized by a cool climate, with significant temperature variations between sunny days and the cold of the night hours. The soils are medium-textured, clay-based, very richof skeleton and mineral substances. The harvest is done manually during the month of September and the best bunches are further selected before proceeding to vinification. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts and maceration on the skins with pump-overs and délestage. The wine matures for 9 months in steel and then for about 24 months in French oak barriques, partly new and partly second passage, and completes its aging in the bottle until it reaches full expressive maturity.

It presents itself with a dark and luminous ruby red color, with aromas reminiscent of ripe cherry, black currant, blueberry, floral hints of violet and medicinal herbs, vegetal nuances of green pepper, spicy and toasted notes, hints ofbitter cocoa, leather, and noble woods. On the palate, it is structured and deep, with dense and mature tannins, accompanied by rich and harmonious aromas, which anticipate a very persistent finish. Excellent when paired with beef roasts, game, or grilled red meats.
