SAGRANTINO DI MONTEFALCO 'CAMPO ALLA CERQUA' TABARRINI 2020 DESCRIPTION

The Sagrantino "Campo alla Cerqua" from the Tabarrini winery is a wine with a strong, incisive, and penetrating soul. It is a concentrate of energy and a completely special charm that characterizes the Umbrian territory. The Tabarrini winery is located in Turrita, a fraction of the municipality of Montefalco, known worldwide for being the chosen area of the symbol grape variety of Umbria: the Sagrantino. It is an extremely territorial variety that, if allowed to express itself at its best, can tell an engaging and mysterious life, to be revealed sip by sip. The Tabarrini family deeply believes that a good wine is born in the vineyard and, for this reason, pays maximum attention to the agricultural practices carried out. The terroir is the first protagonist in winemaking at Tabarrini. Not by chance, the property has been carefully divided into distinct vineyards, each with its own characteristics and expressive potential, thus becoming a rich palette of colors from which the painter's hand draws to compose surprising paintings.

"Campo alla Cerqua" is made from pure Sagrantino grapes, sourced from vineyards located at an altitude of 420 meters above sea level. They were planted 20 years ago on saline and mineral soils, with a pebbly structure. The maceration on the skins lasts over 30 days. The aging phase takes place in French oak barrels for about 36 months, followed by another 12 months of resting in the bottle before commercialization.

Tabarrini Sagrantino "Campo alla Cerqua" presents itself with a deep and impenetrable ruby red color, with some garnet reflections at the rim. Its aroma is engaging and complex, articulated in fruity and floral notes, including blackberry and rose, against a spicy and menthol background. On the palate, the evident and silky tannin showcases the class and elegance of this Sagrantino. A great aging potential is sensed, and curiosity grows to see what surprises it will reveal over the years.
