SANGIOVESE DI ROMAGNA 'BIAGIO ANTICO' ANCARANI 2023 DESCRIPTION

The red wine “Biagio Antico” is a Sangiovese di Romagna that embodies all the beauty of the Romagna terroir. A wine with youthful traits, which impresses with its drinking experience, decidedly smooth and satisfying at the same time. A bottle with which the Ancarani winery confirms its ability to interpret the indigenous grape varieties of the area, in light of a path that aims to focus on the excellences of the territory, enhancing and exalting them. Proof of this is this Sangiovese di Romagna, a label in which the fruity notes tease the nose and palate.

The Sangiovese di Romagna “Biagio Antico” is made from pure Sangiovese grapes that the Ancarani winery cultivates within vineyards exposed to the southwest, located near Oriolo dei Fichi. The vines are trained on trellises and sink their roots into a clayey-loamy terroir. The grapes, once harvested and brought to the facilities designated for winemaking, ferment spontaneously, thanks to the use of indigenous yeasts, on the skins, in steel containers for a period of 12-15days. Then we move on to the aging phase, carried out for 3 months on the fine lees in steel and then, for another 12 months, in large concrete barrels.

This “Biagio Antico” is a Sangiovese di Romagna that, in the glass, reveals itself with a brilliant color, reminiscent of ruby red. The bouquet of aromas that develops on the nose is centered on fruity, fresh, and direct aromas, also enriched by nuances that recall grape juice. On the palate, it is full-bodied, with a clear and lively drink, characterized by a refreshing sip and a fine tannin. An honest red, which finds its gastronomic vocation with various dishes of traditional Italian cuisine, from first courses to second courses, thus representing an excellent choice.

When to open
To enjoy an artisanal wine at its best, we recommend you to let it 'breathe' at least 15-30 minutes before serving
When to drink
Wine good to drink now, but that can have a beautiful evolution after resting for a while in your cellar
Glass
Medium open goblet
Perfect for young and medium bodied red wines which don't require excessive oxygenation to open. The opening, slightly tighter than the body of the glass, favors the concentration of aromas towards the nose, enhancing the perception of aromas and limiting the dispersion
Longevity
You can let it rest in the cellar comfortably for 3-4 years
