The Sangiovese di Romagna Riserva “Frutti Rossi” from Fattoria Monticino Rosso is a typically territorial interpretation of this great red grape variety mainly spread in central Italy. On the gentle pre-Apennine hills, it expresses itself with particular elegance and finesse. The aging in wood gives a wine with a rather soft and harmonious profile, with pleasant aromas of red fruit and delicate evolving notes that expand the aromatic profile. The final freshness, typical of the Sangiovese grape, gives the wine a smooth and dynamic sip, with particular taste pleasantness.
“Frutti Rossi” is a Sangiovese di Romagna Riserva produced by Fattoria Monticino Rosso in the hilly area of Imola. Founded in the mid-1960s, the company has progressively grown to today’s 37 hectares, of which about twenty are dedicated to vineyards, all cultivated with the typical grapes of the area, Sangiovese, Albana, and Pignoletto, as well as some international varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon. The mild climate allows the grapes to mature slowly with a good aromatic richness. The philosophy of Fattoria Monticino Rosso is based on creating wines that express and enhance the characteristics of the territory, with winemaking and aging processes that respect the varietal aromas of the grapes, without overly invasive interventions, in order to always offer genuine and recognizable wines.
The Riserva “Frutti Rossi” Sangiovese di Romagna from Fattoria Monticino Rosso is a wine that, from its chosen name, immediately declares its pleasantly immediate and expressive vocation, faithful to the varietal imprint of the classic aromas of the Sangiovese grape. Fermentation takes place in steel tanks, with maceration on the skins for about 3 weeks. Before bottling, the wine matures in second-passage French oak barriques. In the glass, it has a bright ruby red color with slight garnet reflections. The olfactory profile opens with aromas of cherry, small red berry fruits, floral nuances, spicy hints, and slight woody memories. On the palate it has a good structure, with fragrant aromas and a dense and evolved tannic texture. The finish is harmonious, with a fresh and persistent closure. A perfect expression of the territory, it is a red wine to pair with rich first courses of Romagna cuisine.
