Poggio Levante's Sangiovese 'Ovvia' is produced at the foot of Monte Amiata, where the winery manages to produce a red wine with both mountain and Mediterranean characteristics. It is aged partly in large barrels, to round out the palate, and partly in cement, to enhance its freshness. The nose releases aromas of ripe cherry and dried violet, with hints of aromatic herbs and wet earth. On the palate, it is fresh and structured, with soft tannins and a minerality that enhances its drinkability. Ideal with meat dishes, it pairs perfectly with pappardelle with wild boar ragù
