Sauvignon 'Penon-Kofl' Cantina Kurtatsch 2024

The Sauvignon 'Penon-Kofl' from Cantina Kurtatsch is an impulsive, intense, and robust wine, coming from a single vineyard of the same name. The name "Kofl", which in the alpine linguistic area designates a rounded peak, recalls the steepness of the slopes, the main contributors to the character of the wine. Notes of exotic fruits, gooseberry, and kiwi evoke the varietal traits of Sauvignon, complemented by mineral hints and wild herbs typical of the mountain terroir. Dynamic on the palate, with great freshness, it is warm and has a square structure: to be tried with poultry

SAUVIGNON 'PENON-KOFL' CANTINA KURTATSCH 2024 DESCRIPTION

The Sauvignon ‘Penon-Kofl’ is a bottle endowed with an exotic dimension produced by the cooperative winery Cantina Kurtatsch from South Tyrol. This white wine belongs to the ‘Terroir’ line, the flagship selection of the winery that gathers labels made exclusively in the best vintages from grapes sourced from high-potential vineyards, cultivated with low yields and strongly tied to the territory. Regarding the name ‘Penon-Kofl’, it derives from the homonymous term that indicates a rounded peak, which is also the origin of the name of the Penon-Kofl vineyard, located in the hamlet of Penone.

The South Tyrol ‘Penon-Kofl’ Cantina Kurtatsch Sauvignon is produced from pure Sauvignon Blanc grapes sourced from the Penon-Kofl plot, characterized by a very steep slope, an altitude ranging from 450 to 600 meters above sea level, and a full east exposure. The microclimate is characterized by significant temperature fluctuations between day and night, while the soils, sandy and gravelly, are rich in dolomite and quartz. In the winery, the bunches are vinified through a minimum skin maceration, associated with the alcoholic fermentation of the must in stainless steel tanks and large oak barrels at controlled temperature. Once the fermentation process is completed, the wine is aged for 12 months on the fine lees in concrete containers.

The ‘Penon-Kofl’ Alto Adige Sauvignon from Cantina Kurtatsch presents a golden yellow color with amber reflections. The aromatic profile expresses intense notes of passion fruit followed by herbaceous hints of sage and reminders of gooseberry, kiwi, and elderflower. The palate is complex, broad, and round, with beautiful freshness and pronounced aromaticity, with a pleasant savory-mineral trail in the finish.
