SAUVIGNON 'WINKL' CANTINA TERLANO 2025 DESCRIPTION

Among the hills that extend at the foot of the majestic South Tyrolean Alps, the Sauvignon Blanc ‘Winkl’ by Cantina Terlano is born, a label that well reflects the characteristic freshness and minerality provided by both the grape variety and the territory. Since 1956, the renowned wine estate Cantina Terlano has been vinifying Sauvignon Blanc in purity and over time has managed to understand and master this variety, achieving very high quality levels and establishing itself as one of the leading interpreters in Italy.

Cantina Terlano ‘Winkl’ Sauvignon Blanc is a pure expression of the homonymous grape variety grown on light and lean soils, composed of sand and clay on a subsoil of quartz rock. The vines, located between 280 and 580 meters above sea level, are exposed to south-southwest on steep hills that reach up to 70% gradient. Following manual harvesting and careful selection, the bunches are subjected to gentle pressing and the must obtained is first left to sediment naturally and then sent to alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The subsequent maturation period lasts for 7-8 months and takes place on the yeasts for 80% of the mass in steel and for the remaining part in large wooden barrels. The masses are finally blended before bottling.

In the glass, the Sauvignon Blanc from South Tyrol ‘Winkl’ Cantina Terlano takes on a bright straw-yellow color with greenish reflections. Characteristic aromas of sage, citrus, apricot, elderflower, and boxwood describe the olfactory range, enriched by balsamic puffs and pleasant mineral notes of gypsum. On the palate, it is agile and elegant, endowed with a tasty savory sensation that rests on a fresh and mineral finish, with excellent persistence.

When to open
To enjoy it at its best, we recommend you to let the wine 'breathe' at least 15-30 minutes before serving
When to drink
Wine good to drink now, but that can have a beautiful evolution after resting for a while in your cellar
Glass
Medium open goblet
Perfect for young and medium bodied white wines which don't require excessive oxygenation to open. The opening, slightly tighter than the body of the glass, favors the concentration of aromas towards the nose, enhancing the perception of aromas and limiting the dispersion
Longevity
You can let it rest in the cellar comfortably for 4-5 years
