SPUMANTE METODO CLASSICO DOSAGE ZERO 'VERGOMBERRA' BRUNO VERDI 2020 DESCRIPTION

The Spumante Metodo Classico “Vergomberra” is a great personality Extra Brut that brings out all the authenticity of Oltrepò Pavese. The choice made by Bruno Verdi is indeed that, in the final stages of the processing of this label, to not add any dosage liqueur, thus maintaining the most natural profile of the territory. This is then associated with a production philosophy that favors long aging on the lees, adding character and body to the final sip. Class and refinement are the emblem of this bottle.

The “Vergomberra” by Bruno Verdi is a Spumante Metodo Classico that comes from a blend where, alongside 70% of Pinot Nero, we also find 30% of Chardonnay. The vineyards where these two international varieties grow are located in Canneto Pavese, at an altitude of about 150-200 meters above sea level, and the vines are trained here using the spalliera and guyot systems. The first fermentation of the must takes place both in steel and - for 15% of the total mass - in Austrian barriques,Austrian, for a total of 6 months. The second fermentation then takes place in the bottle following the production methods of the Metodo Classico and the sparkling wine remains to mature on the lees for a full 42 months.

The Extra Brut Spumante Metodo Classico "Vergomberra" reveals itself to the eye with a bright straw yellow color, crossed by a fine and subtle perlage, endowed with remarkable persistence. Refined is the progression of aromas that announces itself to the nose, with a sip where the fruit and citrus gradually give way to hints of lavender and reminders of yeast. On the palate, it has excellent structure, with an inviting creamy foam and a sip of pleasant freshness. A bottle that embodies the historical vocation of the Oltrepò Pavese terroir for the creation of high-quality bubbles.
