TREBBIANO D'ABRUZZO EMIDIO PEPE 2022 DESCRIPTION

This Trebbiano d'Abruzzo is born from Emidio's visceral passion for the vineyard and his tireless desire to surprise both the most curious enthusiasts and the most radical traditionalists. We are faced with a ancient and indigenous grape variety, generally considered to have neutral aromas and medium structure, but not for Emidio Pepe who has managed to transform the olfactory profile of Trebbiano d'Abruzzo into a rich bouquet of clay, renetta apples, sunflowers, dried fruit, and champignon mushrooms. A liquid kaleidoscope with astonishing evolutionary potential and a pleasantly imprecise drink.

A small oenological pearl that showcases variety and breadth, qualities that make this white a unique example of biodynamic viticulture. The terroir, at the foot of Gran Sasso, is something special: the sharp temperature excursions between day and night "stress" the grapes just enough to release intense aromas, and the proximity to the Adriatic Sea adds that mineral and savory tone that makes the drink satisfying and memorable. Aromas, salinity, and freshness are the three main characteristics of Emidio Pepe's Trebbiano d'Abruzzo, who wanted and managed to transfer biodynamic agriculture to his vineyards, combining the experience of a great producer with modern production techniques.

The Trebbiano d'Abruzzo of Emidio Pepe is crushed by foot, just like in the past, in wooden vats and is left to ferment spontaneously in vitrified cement tanks, where it will age for several months. The Pepe family-run winery has become a clear and transparent example of a flagship of naturalness and craftsmanship; still farmers at heart, with a passion for wine made as it once was, capable of combining the charm of the ancient with the evolution of the modern.
