Radiz's Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Riserva ‘CM’, created in collaboration with La Staffa, represents the latest expression of the Radiz line and the second chapter of this partnership. It comes from old vines, rooted in the hills, nestled among vegetation and majestic oak trees: an ideal microcosm to enhance the tension in the glass. In the glass, it expresses all the intense character of Verdicchio with the fresh traits of the high hills: floral and citrusy, crossed by vibrant mineral notes, it is slender and decidedly savoury on the palate
The Verdicchio Castelli di Jesi Classico Riserva “CM” Radiz La Staffa is born from the meeting of Radiz and La Staffa, the winery of Riccardo Baldi, a true ‘vigneron’ from the Marche region. The motto “Zero rules, low impact, 100% wine” translates into targeted collaborations with winemakers who share an ethical and concrete agricultural approach. In the heart of the Castelli di Jesi, La Staffa represents one of the most authentic expressions of this vision, thanks to a rigorous organic management and a vineyard work focused on maximum territorial fidelity.
The Radiz La Staffa Verdicchio Castelli di Jesi Classico Riserva “CM” comes from the Cupramontana Badia Colli vineyard, a historic plot planted in the 1980s and now managed directly by the winery. The vines take root in clay-limestone soils at about 430 meters above sea level, in a plot exposed to the southwest but set in a natural basin surrounded by vegetation and oaks. This particular configuration reduces the hours of sunlight compared to more open vineyards and creates a cool microclimate, ideal for slow and complete ripening that preserves tension and gustatory momentum. In the winery, soft pressing of whole clusters and static decantation of the must take place before fermentation, technical choices aimed at enhancing varietal purity and the freshness of the site.
In the glass, the Verdicchio Castelli di Jesi Classico Riserva “CM” Radiz La Staffa expresses a precise and territorial profile, played on balance and dynamism. The nose recalls white flowers, citrus fruits, and light herbal notes, which evolve towards iodized and mineral nuances. The sip is tense and smooth, supported by a vibrant freshness that guides the progression and by a fine salinity that amplifies its depth. The finish is clean and vertical, with a crisp closure that returns all the energy and tension typical of the best interpretations of high-altitude Verdicchio.
