VERDICCHIO DEI CASTELLI DI JESI 'PIGNOCCO' SANTA BARBARA 2025 DESCRIPTION

The Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi “Pignocco” Santa Barbara is a wine that takes its name from a legendary pine tree, whose round canopy watched over the vineyards below from the top of a hill. A crisp, easy-drinking bottle, made by Stefano Antonucci with the intention of creating a sincere and low-effort product, capable of accompanying both the aperitif hour and light meals, always ensuring an authentic and reliable sip. The linearity with which Verdicchio makes itself known is appreciated, aided by a process carried out exclusively in steel that enhances its immediacy.

The “Pignocco” Santa Barbara is a Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi that comes from parcels located at an altitude of about 230-250 meters above sea level, characterized by a tuffaceous sandy subsoil and facing southeast. The grapes are harvested by hand and are immediately transferred to the winemaking facilities, where they are destemmed. After a gentle pressing of the selected grapes, the must ferments at controlled temperature in stainless steel containers.controlled in stainless steel containers. The final aging lasts a few months and takes place in steel, until the “Pignocco” is ready to be bottled and put on the market.

The Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi “Pignocco” signed by Santa Barbara manifests in the glass with a typically straw-yellow color, crossed by light reflections that tend more towards greenish, especially at the rim. The nose is straightforward and direct, where fragrant floral notes are perceived, enriched by more fruity references and hints that recall hay. Young and lively is the entry on the palate, where a savory and subtle sip unfolds, characterized by excellent persistence; it closes with a almond-like aftertaste. A label with a price that is nothing short of interesting, extremely versatile in the kitchen.

When to drink
Wine good to drink now, but that can have a beautiful evolution after resting for a while in your cellar
Glass
Medium open goblet
Perfect for young and medium bodied white wines which don't require excessive oxygenation to open. The opening, slightly tighter than the body of the glass, favors the concentration of aromas towards the nose, enhancing the perception of aromas and limiting the dispersion
