VERMENTINO COLLI DI LUNI 'SARTICOLA' LA BAIA DEL SOLE 2024 DESCRIPTION

The Vermentino Colli di Luni “Sarticola” from the La Baia del Sole estate is a prestigious label, created by the winery to enhance a vineyard long known for the superior quality of its grapes, thanks to a privileged position wonderfully exposed to the south, which favors excellent ripening. The Mediterranean climate, tempered by sea breezes, and sheltered from the cold disturbances coming from the northeast, allows the Vermentino to express itself at the highest levels, giving a great white wine that is rich, intense, and complex.

“Sarticola” is a Vermentino from Colli di Luni that represents one of the best excellences of the La Baia del Sole winery. The grapes used to produce this label are harvested exclusively in the Sarticola area, in Castelnuovo Magra, in what is considered a true company cru. The vines are over 30 years old and are cultivated at an altitude of about 330 meters above sea level, on a clayey soil rich in pebbles. The harvest

takes place manually towards the end of September, at full phenolic ripeness. The bunches are cold macerated for 48 hours before proceeding to a soft pressing. After a natural decantation of the must, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of about 16 °C for a period of a couple of weeks. Before being bottled, it matures in stainless steel tanks on the fine lees for a few months.

The white Vermentino “Sarticola” Colli di Luni, produced by the La Baia del Sole winery, is a typically Mediterranean wine, which perfectly expresses the sunny character of this wonderful place, nestled on the border between Liguria and Tuscany. In appearance, it presents a straw yellow color, with bright and warm golden reflections. The olfactory profile is rich and mature, with aromas of citrus, yellow-fleshed fruit, banana, pineapple, melon, soft nuances of tropical fruit, hints of broom, and marine sensations of saltiness. The attack on the palate is enveloping and harmonious, with complex and persistent aromas that enhance a creamy ripeness of

fruit. The finish is long and very persistent, characterized by the presence of a clear trail of mineral freshness.

When to drink
Wine good to drink now, but that can have a beautiful evolution after resting for a while in your cellar
Glass
Medium open goblet
Perfect for young and medium bodied white wines which don't require excessive oxygenation to open. The opening, slightly tighter than the body of the glass, favors the concentration of aromas towards the nose, enhancing the perception of aromas and limiting the dispersion
