VERMENTINO DI SARDEGNA 'GIUNCO' MESA 2024 DESCRIPTION

The Vermentino di Sardegna "Giunco" from the Mesa winery is a fruity, fresh, and broad white wine produced in Sant'Anna Arresi, Sardinia. This label is made from pure Vermentino grapes sourced from vineyards located in the Sulcis area, in the southwestern part of the island, characterized by scarce rainfall distributed irregularly throughout the year and frequent maestrale winds. The vines are trained using the espalier method with guyot pruning on alluvial soils, formed in the Pleistocene, rich in skeleton and characterized by clayey-sandy soils. The winery, owner of about 70 hectares of vineyards, was founded in 2004 by Gavino Sanna, an advertiser and entrepreneur of Sardinian origins who, in love with his land, decided to invest in a winemaking reality where natural rhythms reign in an indissoluble combination of tradition and respect for the territory.

The "Giunco" Vermentino di Sardegna from Mesa is produced with carefully selected grapes that are hand-picked in crates, between the end of August and the beginning of September. The bunches, brought to the winery, are cooled to a temperature of about 10 °C for at least 48 hours before being destemmed and softly pressed. The alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel containers at a controlled temperature of 15-18 °C for several weeks, after which the wine remains in aging on its fine lees for at least 4 months before being bottled and continuing its maturation in the bottle for at least another month before being released for sale.

The "Giunco" wine from Mesa presents itself with a beautiful bright straw-yellow color. On the nose, intense aromas of white-fleshed fruit and tropical fruit appear, including peach and mango, floral notes of white flowers, such as jasmine, citrus hints of orange peel, and then shifting to hints of Mediterranean scrub and iodine. On the palate, it is lively, balanced, and enveloping, characterized by a nice freshness, at times savory, and a finish played on fruity references. This white wine from the Mesa winery is a greatly pleasant, rich, and concentrated wine but at the same time

Medium open goblet
Perfect for young and medium bodied white wines which don't require excessive oxygenation to open. The opening, slightly tighter than the body of the glass, favors the concentration of aromas towards the nose, enhancing the perception of aromas and limiting the dispersion
