
Terra00's Vernatxa Orange 'Ashut' is an orange wine made in Spain, macerated for 45 days on the skins and aged for 9 months in terracotta amphorae. The nose expresses a broad and complex bouquet of citrus, tropical fruit and herbs, while the palate is fresh, structured, intense, slightly astringent and with good acidity on the finish. The Orange 'Ashut' Vernatxa from the artisanal winery Terra 00 represents an orange expression of Garnacha Blanca with character and depth. Partners Joan R. Bada and Josep Arrufat started the Terra 00 project with the aim of enhancing the purest and most authentic aspect of the wine-growing area of Terra Alta, nurturing what is a millennia-old tradition in this territory. To achieve this, Joan and Josep adopt sustainable and genuine practices based on organic farming, biodynamics, and minimalist winemaking, factors that are the foundation of wines “organic and human” as they like to define them.
Terra 00 Vernatxa Orange 'Aschut' originates from only Vernatxa Blanca grapes grown according to the principles of organic farming and biodynamics. In particular, the grapes come from the plots of Les Novenes and La Cirera, characterized by soils rich in clay, limestone, and rock. The harvest is done by hand in crates, and the bunches are then vinified through spontaneous alcoholic fermentation.accompanied by 28 days of skin maceration. Subsequently, the liquid rests for 9 months in 1,000-liter terracotta amphorae and is finally bottled without undergoing any clarification or filtration and without added sulfites.
'Aschut' Vernatxa Orange Terra 00 is orange in color with golden reflections. The aromatic bouquet offers sensations of mandarin, orange peel, aromatic herbs, and tropical fruit, supported by fine mineral notes. The progression on the palate is fresh and intense, savory and full-bodied, with a pleasant citrusy finish. This is a gastronomic orange wine, to be paired with a wide range of dishes such as first and second courses based on fish or white meats, medium-aged cheeses, and legume soups.
