VIN SANTO DEL CHIANTI CLASSICO BADIA A COLTIBUONO 2015 - 37.5CL DESCRIPTION

The Vin Santo del Chianti Classico Badia a Coltibuono is a passito wine, which renews the great tradition of the Chianti area in producing dessert wines with the typical white grape varieties of the territory: Trebbiano and Malvasia. After six years of patient aging, the wine offers the emotion of aromas that range from apricot to citrus peels, from honey to dried fruit, from vanilla to soft oriental spices. A triumph of harmonious and soft sensations that envelops the palate with pleasant persistence.

The passito Vin Santo del Chianti Classico is produced in the beautiful estate of Badia a Coltibuono, located in Monti in Chianti in the area north of the subzone of Gaiole. The Trebbiano and Malvasia grapes come from the Cantina and Arbia parcels, like all the others managed under organic farming since 1994. The vineyards are situated at an altitude between 260 and 370 meters, with a south and southwest exposure. The vines are about twenty years old and are planted in clay-limestone soils of medium texture. After the harvest, the best bunchesof Trebbiano and Malvasia are made to dry for a few months on special mats in well-ventilated rooms. The grapes slowly dehydrate, concentrating the sugars and aromas. The long and slow fermentation and subsequent aging occur in small oak barrels kept in rooms exposed to seasonal temperature variations. After a minimum of six years of maturation in wood, the wine is finally ready to be bottled.

The Vin Santo del Chianti Classico from the Tenuta Badia a Coltibuono stands out for its profile of finesse and elegance, which represents the stylistic hallmark of the entire production of this prestigious Tuscan reality. In the glass, it presents a brilliant amber-yellow color. On the nose, it expresses aromas of apricot, dehydrated yellow fruit, citrus peels, figs, dates, honey, toasted almonds, vanilla, and soft spices. The sip is seductive for its aromatic intensity, complexity, and enveloping softness. The finish of good freshness provides the right balance to the drink without making it heavy and tiring.
