VOUVRAY SEC 'AU BOIS DES DAMES' MAISON FOUCHER 2021 DESCRIPTION

The Vouvray Sec “Au Bois des Dames” from Maison Foucher is born in the area of the Appellation Touraine, located in the heart of the Loire Valley, in one of the most important and famous wine regions of France. The principal grape variety of the area is Chenin Blanc, an ancient white grape variety characterized by a profile of vibrant freshness, which offers a clear and essential expressive purity. The particularly cool climate allows the grape to mature slowly with fruity aromas of extraordinary finesse and elegance, marked by a mineral and savory vein typical of the terroir of origin. It is a taut and vertical white, suitable for those who prefer dry wines with great freshness.

The Vouvray Sec “Au Bois des Dames” is produced in a historic cellar that has been making excellent wines in the Loire Valley for over a century. Maison Foucher manages numerous prestigious parcels in the main Appellations of the region and creates a range of labels that can accurately reflect the different nuances of the terroir. The Chenin Blanc vineyards of Vouvray are grown on soils predominantly composed of limestone in the area of Reugny, which give the wine a profile of extreme finesse and elegance. At the end of the harvest, the grapes are gently pressed. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature. The wine matures for several months in steel vats and completes its aging in the bottle.

The Vouvray Sec “Au Bois des Dames” from Maison Foucher is the typical expression of the wines from the area. It is a white wine dedicated to those who prefer tension over harmony, linear freshness over fruity softness. In the glass, it presents a bright light yellow color with luminous reflections. The bouquet is characterized by floral scents of orange blossom, notes of lemon peel, aromas of grapefruit, Granny Smith apple, white peach, apricot, hints of tropical fruit, and light iodized nuances. The sip is clear and vertical, with delicate and fragrant fruit, dominated by citrus sensations, leading to a savory, dry finish marked by a lively citrus freshness.
