Giuseppe Benanti, grandfather of the current owner, began producing wines at the end of the '800, in an old family farm in the province of Catania, on the slopes of Etna. The grandson, his namesake, in 1988 with passion and determination approaches to the cultivation of vines, with a very specific goal: to highlight the ancient Sicilian grapes, now almost forgotten. His attention is focused in a particular way on the choice of land on the slopes of Etna, perfect of the production of high quality wines. The vineyards, with volcanic and sandy soils, affected by the benefits of the marine climate, are perfect for the maturation of the grapes. In addition to the vineyards of Etna, Giuseppe bought other land in the area of Pachino and the island of Pantelleria to expand his range of wines. Great respect for the environment, strict biological systems, minimal intervention in the vineyard and in the cellar allow Benanti Winery to produce wines of unique and distinct personality, appreciated by a large audience of admirers.
