SYRAH 'ACHELO' LA BRACCESCA - ANTINORI 2024 DESCRIPTION

Syrah 'Achelo' from the La Braccesca - Antinori winery in the Montepulciano and Cortona area is a multifaceted and exuberant red. It is an international grape variety planted in the vocated Tuscan land that gives rise to a pure and clear territorial expression. This red wine thus becomes an enthralling tale, in which the content is modulated by an unusual form and conveyed with a French accent that lends the straightforward personality of the land a distinctive charm. The La Braccesca winery divides its 508-hectare property into two production areas: one in Montepulciano and one in the foothills of Cortona, from which this particular and expressive Syrah comes.

'Achelo' is a Syrah obtained from the grape variety of the same name in purity. The grapes are harvested and transported to the Cortona winery, where they are destemmed and the must obtained undergoes a pre-fermentation cold maceration that enhances the characteristics and freshness of the fruit. Alcoholic fermentation of about 10 days follows and, partly in second and third passage barriques and partly in steel, malolactic fermentation. Bottling completes the entire winemaking process.

La Braccesca 'Achelo' is a Syrah with a dark, deep purple-red colour with violet hues. On the nose, the black fruit texture of blackberry and currant emerges, firmly intertwined with the characteristic spicy timbre that characterises the grape variety. In the mouth it echoes with notes of liquorice and ripe dark fruit, resulting in a soft, enveloping sip. The tannin is present but well managed, integrated with the full body and crisp freshness. A riot of aromas that involves and tells the story of a great grape variety in a great land.

When to drink
Wine good to drink now, but that can have a beautiful evolution after resting for a while in your cellar
Glass
Medium open goblet
Perfect for young and medium bodied red wines which don't require excessive oxygenation to open. The opening, slightly tighter than the body of the glass, favors the concentration of aromas towards the nose, enhancing the perception of aromas and limiting the dispersion
